Key dates & Notes from 17-18 NHL schedule

The 2017-2018 NHL regular season is set to begin on Wednesday October 4th with a four game opening night. This will be headlined by the Pittsburgh Penguins raising their fifth Stanley Cup championship banner before facing the St. Louis Blues at PPG Paints arena (8 PM ET NBCSN). The 1,271-game regular-season which is 82 games per team will finish on Saturday April 7th 2018.
