Even the best teams go through rough patches and the Redbirds are currently battling those choppy seas. The Game 2 loss in today’s doubleheader marked the third consecutive for the Birds and it didn’t help that their offense could only muster two hits in the contest.
Despite the skid, there are still bright spots including a line-drive single through the middle by Kenny Collins. The other positive from the day was that both new Redbirds acquisitions seem to promise productivity. Outfielder d’Aundray Van Slyke added the second base hit for the Birds and drove in their lone run while Yordany Salva reached base once with a walk.
One of the best pitchers in the league, Dimitri Nuñez, will be taking the mound for the Redbirds tomorrow as they look to get back to winning ways at 4:30 pm.
