I Can’t Do Everything For The Giants…
It’s time for the Giants to move on from Jerry Reese. Two seasons ago he was under scrutiny for having an awful defense. In that off-season he did everything he could to address the defense and did nothing with the offensive line. The 2016 season went on and the Giants finished the regular season 11-5 because of their defense.
The Giants failed to put up 30 points in any of their 16 regular season games and in their playoff game against a weak Packers defense.
The Giants needed to address one position in the offseason, whether through the draft or free agency, yet they did neither. Instead they went with Evan Engram (TE out of Ole’ Miss), Dalvin Tomlinson, (DT from Alabama), and Davis Webb, (QB from Cal) with their first three picks. It wasn’t until the 6th round that the Giants picked up an offensive lineman, Adam Bisnowaty, which turned out to be a wasted pick because he didn’t make the 53 man roster.
I have no clue what Jerry Reese was thinking in the off-season. He put all his chips on Odell Beckham Jr. and Eli Manning. Let’s remember Eli is 36 years old and he looks to be on the decline. Also, let’s take a look at Ben McAdoo. What has he done for this team? Absolutely nothing. He has led a bad offense with no rushing attack.
Last night the 2007 Giants Super Bowl team was honored at halftime. What did they have exactly? A great recipe of a good offensive line and running backs that knew how to run the ball. The past few seasons the Giants running game has been non-existent and teams around the league study that. This is not pee wee football.
I can’t do everything for the Giants but here’s a list of free-agents they could’ve targeted on the offensive line:
Kevin Zeitler, G
T.J. Lang, G
Larry Warford, G
John Greco, G (still available)
Orlando Franklin, G (still available)
Andrew Whitworth, OT
Russell Okung, OT
Some of the Giants play this year is on Eli Manning but it’s also on the offensive line and Jerry Reese. The offensive line is one of the worst I’ve ever seen. Ereck Flowers gets pushed around every snap. How do you not upgrade at any position on the offensive line? Everyone saw how bad the line was last year but this year it looks even worse. Let’s get back to ground and pound football with a good o-line and a half decent RB.
