North Carolina Tar Heels (-1.5) vs. Gonzaga Bulldogs
New blood vs. Blue Blood. North Carolina is back for the second straight year, after losing to Villanova on a last second shot in last year’s championship game. North Carolina has won five national titles and appeared in their 20th Final Four this season. UNC head coach Roy Williams will be coaching his 100th NCAA tournament game against Gonzaga. UNC had to beat Butler, Kentucky, and Oregon to get to this championship game. Justin Jackson is averaging 18.3 PPG this season. The Tar Heels are averaging 84.8 PPG on the season while they’ve only allowed 71.6 PPG to opponents in the tournament. Gonzaga just won their first Final Four game and will appear in their first championship game. Plenty of people have doubted Gonzaga including myself and I still do. They play in the West Coast Conference and haven’t proven themselves throughout this season. Nigel Williams-Goss is averaging 16.9 PPG this season while shooting 49.3% from the field. Gonzaga is averaging 83.1 PPG while allowing a mere 61.8 PPG throughout the tournament. I’d put my money on the North Carolina Tar Heels in this game. Other than Kennedy Meeks, they played terrible in the Final Four game. I expect them to play much better against Gonzaga. Gonzaga will be evenly matched inside and haven’t dealt with players like Kennedy Meeks this season.
