This week’s Thursday night tilt features two of the better teams in the NFC. Both the Eagles and Panthers come in hot, each winners of their last two games. The quick turnaround will effect both teams as the Panthers are coming back from Detroit while the Eagles hit the road after flambaying the Cardinals at home.
The three point spread should tell you right off the bat that Vegas thinks these two are even. Carson Wentz has been pretty damn good all season, following up an impressive rookie campaign. Surrounding him the requisite weapons plus a solid defense has paid huge dividends early as the Eagles are now the frontrunners to take the NFC East.
Life in Carolina isn’t too bad either. Cam Newton has been getting closer to full health each week. Last week was no different. Against a Lions defense that came into that Week 5 matchup as the highest scoring defense in the league, Newton dominated. He threw for 355 yards with three touchdowns and most importantly zero turnovers. If Newton is on the sky’s the limit in Carolina.
Given its a short week and both teams are even I’m inclined to favor the home team. There are no major injuries for either team (Greg Olsen for the Panthers but that’s been the case the past two weeks) so everything is pretty cut and dry. I’m rocking with Cam at home but do not expect this one to be a cakewalk.
Prediction: Eagles 17, Panthers 23
