Top 10 Running Backs for 2017
1. Le’Veon Bell, Pittsburgh Steelers
Bell is a do it all back and he is very patient waiting for holes to open up. He’s the fastest player to ever reach 3,000 rushing yards and 1,500 receiving yards at only 38 games. Bell will be relied upon heavily this season with Ben Roethlisbergers future up in the air after this season.
2. David Johnson, Arizona Cardinals
David Johnson racked up over 100 yards from scrimmage in 15 games last season. He also scored 20 touchdowns. He’s a do it all back and he’ll be relied on again a lot this season. He’s the best receiving back in the league and it showed with 80 receptions for 879 yards.
3. Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys
Elliott won last years rushing title with 1,631 yards. It was one of the best rookie seasons by a running back ever. He helped pave the way to a 13-3 season with a first round bye in the playoffs. Elliott has the best offensive line in the league.
4. LeSean McCoy, Buffalo Bills
McCoy posted a per carry average of 5.4 yards which is the best of his career. McCoy will get a lot of touches this season with a lot of question marks around the offense.
5. Jay Ajayi, Miami Dolphins
Ajayi wasn’t a full time player until week 6 and he still rushed for 1,272 yards. He rushed for over 200 yards in consecutive games last season.
6. Devonta Freeman, Atlanta Falcons
Freeman is a dual threat as a rusher and receiver. He had 13 total touchdowns last season. He has big play ability in a high powered offense that lost the Super Bowl last season. The Falcons will be there at the end of the season with their talented offense.
7. Jordan Howard, Chicago Bears
Jordan Howard replaced Jeremy Langford last season in Week 4 as the starter. Last season he recorded 1,313 rushing yards and 7 total touchdowns after barely playing in the first 3 weeks. The offensive line should be fine and he’ll get a lot of touches.
8. DeMarco Murray, Tennessee Titans
Murray is great at pounding the ball between the tackles. Last season he ran for 1,287 yards and scored 12 touchdowns. The Titans have a good offensive line to open up holes for Murray.
9. Todd Gurley, Los Angeles Rams
The Rams improved their offensive line by getting Andrew Whitworth so the blocking should be better than last season. Jared Goff is still young so Gurley will get a lot of carries and have better numbers after last year.
10. Lamar Miller, Houston Texans
Miller only played in 14 games last season and rushed for 1,073 yards. He proved that he is a feature back in the NFL. Hopefully their QB play is better this season so opponents will respect the pass.
