WWE Raw Recap ~ 5/22/17

Tonight started with Bray Wyatt entering the ring talking about how he’ll beat his four opponents in the Fatal Five Way Match at Extreme Rules. The other four members in the match are Seth Rollins, Samoa Joe, Finn Balor, and Roman Reigns. Bray Wyatt believes he’s the only one that can slay the Beast (Brock Lesnar). Roman Reigns finally interrupts Wyatt going on and on about how he’s the ruler of the world. Kurt Angle comes out and tells both Bray and Roman that they’ll have a match tonight and calls out for a referee.

Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns

What a match to kick things off on Raw. Kurt Angle wants to see who can carry the momentum into Extreme Rules. The match started slow then they start exchanging blows. Samoa Joe entered the ring and goes after Roman Reigns. Enter Seth Rollins who runs after Samoa Joe. Bray Wyatt then goes after Seth Rollins but Roman Reigns hits him with a spear. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins stood tall in the ring just watching the others moves.

After the break Kurt Angle sets up the main event with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns against Samoa Joe and Bray Wyatt.

Akira Tozawa vs. Ariya Daivari

Yes there was a lot of screaming from Tozawa. The match went back and forth and wasn’t too exciting. It only lasted about two minutes. Tozawa wins it with the pin.

Dean Ambrose vs. Elias Samson

Elias Samson makes his in ring debut against Dean Ambrose. Thank God Dean Ambrose cut off Elias Samson from singing. Samson was impressive and took early control of the match. Finally Dean Ambrose begins to fight back and hits a neck breaker. Dean Ambrose gets on the top rope and jumps but Samson counters with a knee to the face. Of course The Miz announced the match and went after Elias Samson and Ambrose gets disqualified. Elias Samson wins.

I just want to say I Hate The Miz.

Finn Balor vs. Karl Anderson

Finn Balor has one of the best walk out songs in the WWE right now. Balor was speaking to the Balor Club and Paul Heyman walks in on behalf Brock Lesnar. Heyman just told the WWE Universe that Brock Lesnar would make everyone in the Fatal Five Way Match a victim. Heyman applauds Finn Balor and says he’s no victim. Heyman claims Balor is the most talented WWE performer today. Paul Heyman say’s he’s intrigued to see Finn Balor vs. Brock Lesnar (foreshadowing?). Finn Balor say’s he’ll face Brock Lesnar for the championship he never lost and he will beat Brock Lesnar.
Finally, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson enter for Anderson’s match. Karl Anderson started out on top but Balor quickly gained momentum. Gallows delivers a few distractions to give Anderson time to take charge. Finn Balor goes after both Anderson and Gallows and Anderson almost gets the pin with a spine buster. Finn Balor gets the victory and gains momentum heading into the Fatal Five Way match.

Alicia Fox vs. Sasha Banks

Alicia Fox was in control early after Naom Dar distracted Sasha Banks. Sasha Banks got the win in a quick match. Praise the Boss. After the match Banks and Dar argue and Sasha slaps Dar. Alicia Fox then went after Sasha and connected with a scissor kick.

Kalisto vs. Apollo Crews

Kalisto started out quick but Apollo Crews quickly gained control with his power. When it all looked like everything was going Apollo Crews’ way Titus O’Neill distracts him by shouting orders. Kalisto was able to hit a move and pin Apollo. Who’s needs the Titus brand? Not Kalisto.

Matt Hardy vs. Sheamus

The stipulation for Extreme Rules is on the line. The match started slow but Sheamus was able to take control and gets a one count. Hardy sent Sheamus out of the ring with a clothes line but quickly jumps back in the ring. The match continued to go back and forth. Sheamus hits white noise and almost gets Hardy down for a three count. Matt Hardy hits a tornado DDT but Sheamus was able to kick out after a two count. Cesaro tried to get involved but Jeff Hardy takes him out and Matt Hardy hits Sheamus with a twist of fate. Matt Hardy gets the win. Matt Hardy choose the stipulation at Extreme Rules and it will be… inside a steel cage.

Austin Aries vs. Tony Nese

Nese goes after Aries injured leg but Aries had controlled. Nese got control when Aries was distracted by Neville ringside. Austin Aries gets Nese to tap out with a last chancery. Nese was forced to tap out. After the match Neville attacked Nese for not doing his dirty work.

Mickie James vs. Alexa Bliss

Mickie James was in control the entire match until Alexa Bliss hits a DDT. Alexa Bliss wins in a match that lasted about three or four minutes.

Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins vs. Bray Wyatt and Samoa Joe

Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt started things off. Seth Rollins took control and also went after Samoa Joe, who tried to end Rollins career. Wyatt took control when Rollins was distracted by Joe. Reigns gets tagged in and goes hunting. Wyatt takes control when Reigns is distracted by Joe. Then it’s Rollins against Samoa Joe and he goes off against Wyatt and Joe. Rollins hit them with a suicide dive out of the ring. Rollins then gets them both with a double cross body. Bray tries for a sister Abigail but Reigns hits Joe. Joe ducked a superman punch by Reigns and it hits Rollins. Bray Wyatt and Samoa Joe get the win and get the momentum heading to Extreme Rules.
