Carmelo Anthony to the Thunder
The day has come where Carmelo Anthony has agreed to be dealt. Though he was all in to join forces with Chris Paul and James Harden in Houston, the Knicks were unwilling to take Ryan Anderson’s absurd contract. Honestly, good for Carmelo Anthony. He’s taken so much heat in New York, not only from ownership but from fans. He was devoted to bring a title to New York but obviously it did not happen.
The addition of Carmelo now gives the Thunder Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and Carmelo Anthony. If that’s not a three headed monster I don’t know what is. Yes, defense will struggle at times but they have the physicality of Steven Adams to aid them down low.
The Western Conference now has power houses throughout the conference.
The Knicks will receive Doug McDermott, Enes Kanter, and a 2018 2nd round pick. McDermott was once the most feared shooter in college basketball. He’s still only 25 years old so he fits in to what New York is trying to do. Eines Kanter is also only 25 years old and is very physical down low. I’m not sure how this will shake out for the Knicks who have so many big men with Kanter, Kristaps Porzingis, Willy Hernangomez, Kyle O’Quinn, and Joakim Noah.
It will be exciting to watch the Thunder next season with their new additions. I can tell you one thing, the Thunder will be a force in the league. Now there’s no telling how Paul George, Russell Westbrook, and Carmelo Anthony will gel together, with them all being ball dominate guys. But for NBA fans we all hope for the best.
